Shen Yun Performing Arts 2012 Worldwide Tour is coming

Shen Yun is not another Chinese show.  Shen Yun performance preserved the essence of Chinese culture through Classical Chinese dance and Chinese folk instruments. All musical scores and choreography are authentic and original.   The pristine natural landscapes created by Hollywood-like digital backdrops cannot be seen anywhere.  It's an eye opener experience that you won't forget.  As the curtain rolls up, you will be taken to scenes from 5,000 years of Chinese civilization and everything seems timeless as you immerse in the divinely graceful performance produced only by the Shen Yun Performing Arts.

2012 Shen Yun Performing Arts is coming to Los Angeles and Orange Country on January 11, 2012.  Reserved your tickets now. LA Shen Yun Ticketing Information

What a Perfect Evening Watching Shen Yun Performance in Southern California

It was a PREFECT evening in lovely Pasadena while enjoying the magnificent and glorious performance from Shen Yun on April 28, 2011.  It was truly a feast to enjoy with a unique combination of Western and Eastern musical instruments playing together harmoniously by the Shen Yun New York Company Orchestra. That live music surely compressed the time and space as if I’ve been transported back in time to 5,000 years ago in China and seeing the legend and stories come to live with my own eyes.  I like “The Monkey King Outwits Pigy” which was a part of the epic novel “Journey to the West” described how Pigy becomes the second disciple in the journey.  Another folktale was about the “Heroic Lu Zhishen” which was about an unusual monk who unable to follow the ways of monks but had a good heart and became enlightened at the end.

If you have not seen Shen Yun performance, you owe yourself to watch it today!
Be sure to get the program book! It has additional information about the performance.

London Photographic Artist: Shen Yun is 'Elegant, Expressive'

The visual splendour of Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company was appreciated by artist, photographer and business consultant Rupert Davis, on Saturday night, April 9, at The London Coliseum.

He loved the show and its varied colours and dance.

“I liked the green in the Mongolian [dance]. I really liked the field of gold, the kind of sunshine in one of the ladies' dances. ... I love the colours.”

Mr. Davis enjoyed the digital backdrop where the landscapes, palaces and cities of ancient and modern China are rendered in three dimensions and where celestial beings travel through space to link heaven and earth. “I like that idea, I like the stories. And I love the scenery, the set,” he said.

He thought the show expanded his understanding of traditional Chinese culture.

Of his work, he said, “I'm a photographic artist so I have exhibitions and a book.” Perhaps he chose a book for the way it shows, in visual form, the ancient art of storytelling and moving through time.

Hosted in both English and Chinese, each program is given a brief introduction, enabling Westerners and Chinese alike to better understand the nuances of Chinese culture.

“Love it! As I said, elegant, expressive. Very good.”

He said he would describe Shen Yun as “very relaxing, almost soothing in some ways, as well as being interesting and entertaining.”

Riverdance Producer John McColgan

Shen Yun 'Standard of the performers was terrific'

Mr. John McColgan, who attended the final of three Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company performances at The Convention Centre in Dublin on Sunday, March 27.

"I am enjoying it enormously; I haven't seen a major Chinese show before," said Mr. McColgan. "It's nice to get a sense of the 5,000 years of history ... you can feel the emotion and storytelling from an ancient culture, so it is very entertaining, very enjoyable."

Mr. McColgan said he was deeply impressed with the dancers and their skills. “The dance is very elegant and very athletic, very skilled ... it's a pleasure to watch,” he said.

Another facet of the show that impressed him was the digital backdrop.

“The projection is terrific, it's really lovely. Each scene has a different location, so that's very enjoyable," he said.

“I think the scene with the teacher and the girls and the police was very enlightening ... the music is excellent, the orchestra, the girls are beautiful and the costumes are wonderful.”

Mr. McColgan was referring to scenes from the Shen Yun performance depicting the persecution of practitioners of Falun Gong, a traditional spiritual practice that is extra-legally banned by China's authoritarian regime. A couple of the dances depict life in contemporary China, where freedom of expression and belief is violently suppressed.

“I think the standard of the performers was terrific; they were wonderful, skilled dancers, wonderful tenor and soprano.”

“All in all it was a very entertaining and uplifting couple of hours. I think each dance is beautiful on its own. It was very enjoyable to experience. All the women are very beautiful and elegant. The orchestra was wonderful, and the Chinese instruments were wonderful,” concluded Mr. McColgan.
