It is a legendary night accompanies with Shen Yun Performance Arts at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in LA Music Center. You may or may not know a traditional Chinese musical instrument called er-hu (二胡). It is a two-stringed bowed musical instrument.
In Shen Yun, there is an amazing erhu soloist called Xiaochun Qi. There is no other erhu soloist can compare to how she plays erhu on the stage. Tonight, she played “Saving the Predestined” which also composed by herself. As she begins to play the first tone, the audience is silent and time seems to be frozen. Magically, her music connects with everyone in the audience and the movements of strings tell stories. I could feel my heart as if my long forgotten memories and feelings are bringing back from time piece by piece as she moves her strings back and forth. Those feelings were hidden and buried for so long and they felt like eons have been passed. In her music, I felt that she is telling us stories that we all being through but forgotten in some lifetimes. It contained the time of glory, the time of sorrow, and the time of triumphs we shared long long time ago. It is truly amazing to watch her live performance as I wonder how two strings can do so much. I sincerely invite you to experience Shen Yun.
